Kampot street views
Below you see a large collection of current street sceneries and street views to give you a precise idea what to expect from this provincial town if you come to visit Kampot. Of course many visitors come here for sightseeing. Nevertheless it is important to feel comfortable and like / love the type of scenery a town has to offer.
All below images are current from early 2009 and show streets within easy walking distance from center. Most of the guest houses and restaurants are in these streets and can easily be reached walking. Some of the guest houses offer bicycle, either for daily rent or sometimes included in your room package deal you have. Take your time to walk in town - it helps you to stay better in touch with nature and the people from Kampot.
Enjoy the silence and quiet, very low road traffic in Kampot - so quiet sometimes you hear birds singing along the streets. Many houses have a green garden or blossoming bushes. In ancient times until mid seventies streets in Cambodia used to be very blossoming and well maintained. Wide but rarely crowded by vehicles. Traditionally traffic is either walking or bicycle or cyclo. In modern times you see some small motor cycles but the motor cycles drive carefully and create nearly no noise at all.
To fully recover from all war and post war damage may certainly take another few decades.
